Confession time : I have a MAJOR sweet tooth! I try to stick to a mostly whole foods diet, but if there are sweets near me I just can’t resist. And I’m not picky about the sweets I love – jujubes, sour patch kids, chocolate … I love them all! The perfect treat to curb the cravings without a ton of refined sugar is this chocolate avocado pudding. This stuff is SO good! Seriously guys, I don’t know what I did before this pudding was in my life. I dream of this stuff! With a creamy smooth texture, and rich chocolatey taste, this pudding is the perfect healthy treat for any sweet tooth.
Avocados are the main ingredient in the pudding, and give it that luscious velvety texture. You want your avocados to be ripe for this, a slightly unripe avocado just won’t be quite as creamy. Best news if you have an avocado that’s a little past it’s prime, go ahead and use it in this recipe and save your picture perfect one for avocado toast! Cacao powder will join the avocado in the blender, along with some maple syrup, salt and cinnamon to create the pudding. Cocoa powder will also work, but the cacao powder adds some extra nutrients … thus allowing me to justify sometimes eating this for breakfast! I mean, avocadoes are a breakfast food, right!?
Once you try this pudding you’re going to be addicted, and will start seeking out as many ways to justify eating it as possible. Trust me on this one, I speak from experience. Well have no fear, since I got you hooked on it I figure the least I can do is share some of my research 😉 …
