Happy Fri-yay! With one week to go I am counting down the days until Black Friday. I need a winter parka and am hoping to find a great deal! It’s not a holiday for us in Canada, but I’m planning to use a vacation day to go shopping. I haven’t started any Christmas shopping yet and thought it would be a fun challenge to try and tackle it all in one day! I’m thinking I better wear my runners for the shopping trip 🙂
This week was FULL of favourites so I have some really good ones for you today!
First Snowfall of the Year!
This past weekend I went to visit my parents, about an hour north of Toronto. While I was visiting we got the first snowfall of the year! Truth time … winter is just not my jam. I thrive in the sunny heat of summer, and could do without the cold and darkness of winter, BUT I do love the look of snow! For the first couple weeks anyway 😉 It’s so beautiful to see everything covered in a fresh layer of snow, and watch the sun reflect off the individual flakes. This first snowfall wasn’t enough to totally cover all the grass is a fluffy layer of white yet, but it sure did put me in the holiday spirit!
A Bad Moms Christmas
O.M.G. This movie was hilarious. Like laughing out loud for 1.5 hours straight and waking up the next day with sore abs kind of funny. I hadn’t seen the first two Bad Moms movies so I didn’t really know what to expect, but I love Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell so I thought my expectations were pretty high walking in. They far exceeded my expectations. There aren’t a lot of movies that can keep an entire theatre roaring with laughter throughout the whole thing, but this one sure did. My mom, aunt, and cousin came with me and we had such a good time!
I don’t go to the movies very often, so when I do I get very excited about the snacks! I love a good snack and movie snacks are some of the best! The theatre snacks just don’t always cut it though. A quick trip to the grocery store beforehand offers maximum options, but I opted for my go-to of Perrier, mixed nuts and M&M’s. Add in a big bag of popcorn at the theatre and we were happy movie goers 🙂 And take it from a pro – stop by the bulk section before leaving the store and grab a couple extra little baggies, that way you can make up little snack bags with your goodies for your friends. #StrongSnackGame
D.I.Y. Dry Shampoo
I have tested out a lot of dry shampoos, and as a brunette haven’t been able to find one I like. Yes – I’ve tried the Batiste Dry Shampoo for Brunettes. I know a lot of girls swear by it and it does an okay job, but it leaves me feeling like my hair is LOADED with product and I hate that! After many bottles of unsatisfactory products and lots of research online, I discovered my favourite dry shampoo to date. I know all you blondes are familiar with the baby powder trick, but as a brunette it leaves my hair looking a tinge grey, and I’m trying to hide my greys not add more! Enter cocoa powder. Mixing equal parts baby powder (or cornstarch) and cocoa powder creates a darker dry shampoo that absorbs all the excess oils, doesn’t turn my hair grey, and leaves my hair feeling clean and product-free. As a bonus, I smell faintly like chocolate all day! 😛 I like to store mine in a spice jar so I can just shake a little bit on my roots, let sit for a couple minutes, and then brush out. Magic!
Essie Smokin’ Hot Polish
I have been lovin’ this colour lately. It’s a dark smoky grey, perfect for November, and goes with everything! It also applies really smoothly with only two coats. This is definitely going to be my go-to colour this winter!
I’m Going to be an Aunt!!
My little sister is pregnant and I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!!!!! I love babies. Especially ones that I get to give back to their parents when they start to cry 😉 I can’t wait to be an aunt and am so excited to spoil her rotten and dress her up in adorable clothes. SO PUMPED! To celebrate, my mom, aunt and I are throwing a baby shower for her this weekend. I’ll be back next week to share some highlights from the shower.
Have a fabulous weekend!
