Welcome! I hope you have your feet up and a cup of tea in hand because boy do I have a lot to share with you today! No?! Go ahead and make one, I’ll wait. ……. Ready!? Great! Today’s Friday Favourites are a total hodge podge of awesome things from the past week, starting with …
My cousin Kait got married this past summer and just got the professional photos back. She sent me copies of a few of the pictures and they are GORGEOUS! It’s so fun to look back through the photos and remember what a blast it was celebrating this amazing couple!
Kait and Chris were married on the dock at the family cottage with almost our whole family there … one cousin lives in Florida and couldn’t make it, and our uncle from Thailand missed his flight and arrived a couple days late for the wedding … oops!
As a special surprise for the bride and groom, my aunt and uncle (parents of the bride) arranged for a float plane to pick up the couple and fly them to their reception. Coming from a big airline family (eight relatives work, or retired from, an airline), and with the groom being a pilot himself, this was a really special moment for everyone … and one that kept us in suspense until the very last second due to some iffy weather approaching.
This wedding was seriously a blast. I am certainly no stranger to the dance floor, and it was evident that the apple does not fall far from the tree. My entire family was on the dance floor ALL. NIGHT. LONG. as were most of the other guests. It was hard not to be with Despacito playing three times throughout the night! 😉
Chocolate Covered Mandarin Oranges
Was anybody else obsessed with these chocolate oranges when they were younger? I used to get one of these in my stocking every Christmas and I lived for it! I haven’t had one (or thought about them) for years until Christmas Craft night with friends. Our host, Penny, had a treat that reminded me so much of these chocolates! She made her own version by dipping Mandarin orange slices in dark chocolate, and then sprinkling them with sea salt. They were incredible and screamed Christmas to me, reminding me of the excitement of Christmas morning as a kid!
Lipstick that Lasts!
Finding a lipstick that lasts is no easy feat, and I hate trying new products that let you down. That’s why when I find a great product that works I love to share it with friends, and this lipcolour my friends, is definitely share-worthy! If you can’t tell from my wee little collection, I love this stuff! It goes on matte (and you can add a gloss on top if you like … I usually don’t bother) and it lasts forever making it perfect for a bold red lip this holiday season.
If you read last week’s Black Friday post, you know that I’ve been eyeing this cape for quite some time and snatched it up last week during a sale. I’m happy to report that it was delivered on Monday (super speedy delivery!) and I am so happy with it! I’ve been wearing it over a black turtle neck with jeans and black booties for casual days in the office. I see this becoming a weekly staple in my wardrobe this winter!
Podcast I’m Listening To
I have professed my love for podcasts before. Being productive while stuck in traffic appeals to my type-A personality 🙂 and I love discovering a new podcast that I can’t turn off!
Officially five weeks into this blogging, I still have NO IDEA what I am doing! #inWAYovermyhead I’ve been scouring the internet trying to learn everything I can about building a blog, and in my searching discovered that Bjork has a podcast! You’re probably wondering who the heck Bjork is. Well, I don’t actually know him either, but I’ve been following the journey of he and his wife Lindsay for years through Lindsay’s food blog, Pinch of Yum.
Lindsay shares tons of drool-worthy recipes (my favourite is her Korean BBQ Burritos) and Bjork handles a lot of the technical stuff for the blog and posts income reports on Pinch of Yum. I’d been following lots of blogs and was always curious about them, but no one was sharing the behind the scenes details of how it worked. With the income reports it was like Bjork was lifting the curtain; he shared all the inner workings of how they were making money from a food blog, and I was fascinated.
I’ve continued to follow the income reports and Pinch of Yum so not sure how I missed that they had started a podcast … but I did … and then I found it … and now I can’t turn it off! I’m 9 episodes in and can’t listen to them fast enough, there is just so much amazing information! There are 125+ episodes so I have a long way to go, but can’t wait for my next commute!
Expect to continue to see more changes to the blog as I learn more about the technical side of blogging. I’m off to listen to some more Food Blogger Pro. Have a fantastic weekend and I’ll see you back here Monday!
