I’m still in full on holiday mode over here and it’s glorious. It’s taken no time at all to adjust from my regular weekday wake up time of 5:30am to my new and improved holiday wake up time of 9am!!! Ha I could get used to this! After my lazy mornings, this holiday season has been filled with lots of cozy nights’ in, because it is freezing here! So, for today’s Friday Favourites I’m sharing all my favs for a cozy night in!
Games
In addition to our tried and true favourite board games (like Clue), we’ve been loving some of last year’s Christmas gifts (Dutch Blitz and Ticket to Ride), as well as a couple of new games from this Christmas – Code Names, Catan and PIE FACE! If you have not seen the hilarity that is Pie Face yet, let me introduce you. What started out as a gag gift turned into the biggest hit of the night! We got everybody in on the action …
Reading Socks
While cozied up inside playing board games …okay not Pie Face, that one isn’t so cozy 😛 … I’ve been staying warm in these new socks from Santa! These fleece lined gems are a cross between a sock and a slipper and they are so COZY! The fur trim is adorable and looks so cute with a pair of leggings. I even wore these to Christmas dinner over a pair of black tights with a leather skirt!
Moscow Mules
Add to the games and socks, a Moscow Mule and bowl of TV mix and I’m a happy girl! These have quickly become the drink of Christmas 2017 in my family, everyone was drinking them at our family Christmas party. We’ve been having fun experimenting with the ingredients too. Currant flavoured vodka? Yes please!! If you’re more of a hot drink kinda gal during your cozy night in, then these Mexican Hot Chocolates are for you. It’s all about the cozy bevvies these days 🙂
Love Real Food
One of my favourite gifts to get for Christmas is a new cook book. I love getting new inspiration in the kitchen, and cookbooks are my go to when I’m feeling frustrated and don’t know what to make for dinner! Love Real Food by Kathryne Taylor from Cookie and Kate is FULL of drool-worthy recipes, and has absolutely gorgeous photos to go along with each. With a focus on using only “real” (unprocessed) food, this cookbook is full of my favourite types of recipes and I can’t wait to get back from the holidays and back into the kitchen to test them out! The Moroccan Stew looks perfect for my next cozy night in!
Family Time
Saving the best for last with this one. My absolute favourite part of the holiday season has been all the time I’ve gotten to spend with family! As our family continues to expand, I love getting to catch up with everyone around the holidays and watch the little ones grow. Any activity really is only as good as the people you surround yourself with (not just anyone make a game called Pie Face the highlight of Christmas dinner, ha!), so for your next cozy night in invite over some family or friends and enjoy the time together! 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend and very Happy New Year! I’ll be back here on Monday with my take on New Years resolutions (hint – I’m not a big fan!).
Linking up with Erika, Andrea, and Katie.
I love all of these! But I must say, I love love love the family picture!
It warms my heart to know that these traditions still go on!!
Gonna try the spaghetti squash for sure, one of my favs! And the musmul mule will be hitting my mouth very soon!
Thanks for all this….love it!
Cheers
Marianne
Thanks Marianne, it’s not always easy to get the whole gang together anymore but SO fun when we do!
